Included in ArtFinder 'picks for April'
Very pleased that my ‘End of the Pier, version 2’ linocut print has been selected for ArtFinder’s Editorial Collection - New for April 2021.
This linocut print shows a view looking over the end of the Victorian Pier in Saltburn, a seaside town in Redcar & Cleveland, North Yorkshire, England. It's an original reduction linocut print, using just one block of lino and a process of carving away the lino between each layer of colour to produce the final image. It's a limited variable print with two colourway versions - Version 2 is an edition of 8 prints using Zerkall extra smooth printing paper and Lawrence oil-based printing inks. The image size is 30.5cm x 30.5cm

In a tribute to Raymond Briggs' magical classic The Snowman™, Middlesbrough Council's public art trail is presented by Wild in Art in association with Penguin Random House UK. Walking with the Snowman features 12 giant snowmen sculptures decorated by professional artists and themed around ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’. They will be placed around Middlesbrough town centre from Saturday 2nd November 2019 until Saturday 4th January 2020 and a map will be available showing the exact location of each of the snowmen. I have no idea where mine (Eleven Pipers Piping) is going to end up yet, but looking forward to seeing them all in situ!

At the end of March it will be one year since I started printmaking full time. I’m really enjoying this new way of life, though think I’m becoming a bit hermit-like as I’m often squirrelled away in my home studio either carving lino or covered in ink...
Some printy highlights over the last year have included taking part in various NE print fairs, the Emerging Artists exhibition @bilsandrye, having @heyhoprintco begin stocking my prints, running linocut workshops and I’ve been blown away by online
sales! Over the next six months I’ll be @artinthepen in Thirsk, taking part in an exhibition @palaceartscic in Redcar, running more workshops at Hey Ho Print Co. Studios in Saltburn (dates t.b.c.) and taking part in the @creative_factory_boro mentoring programme. Also I’ll have one of my prints on the front cover of the 2019 ‘Welcome to Saltburn’ brochure!
The picture shows some of the prints I’ve done over the past year that are still available (limited editions and open editions) or you can pick up a print Hey Ho Print Co. Store in Saltburn. Clockwise from top left: Huntcliff Ripples II (£60), Saltburn Cliff Lift (£60), Pier & Seagull (£45),
Pier and Shore (£50), Jasmine (£30), A wave from Saltburn (£20), Komorebi (£70), Honesty (£60), Saltburn Viaduct (£60).

I have a kokeshi doll sat on my mantlepiece which I've always loved - so decided to turn it into a linocut print. I am printing as an open edition, in various colour combinations and have also been experimenting with chine-collé using japanese origami paper - it's a is a technique that allows you to add colour to your prints without making another block.
My multi-block print of some french ducks - "Coin-coin" will be exhibited as part of the Teesside Print Prize 17 Exhibition at Saabat Gallery (the competition is in partnership with Teesside Print Group, Saabat Gallery and Tees Valley Arts).
The exhibition starts at 4pm on Friday 3rd November 2017 and will run until the 3rd January 19th 2018
At the end of August I attended a linocut course delivered by Michael Atkin, founder of Bracken Press. It was a two day intensive course at the end of which I felt I knew an awful lot more than when I arrived. I took home a limited edition of 10 prints and after a little more work in my home studio, I produced this image of Roseberry Topping, viewed from Guisborough.
